About the NR - PNO
The NR - PNO (NR People, Not Organizations) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established as the functional arm of the Naval Reactors By Our Own, For Our Own (BOOFOO) committee during planning for 75th Anniversary Gala. Our mission is to support, inform, and educate employees and alumni of Naval Reactors (NR), a dual-agency US Government organization, and to inspire STEM education using the accomplishments of NR in the fields of nuclear power and visionary engineering.
A BOOFOO is a particular type of Non-Federal Entity (NFE) made up primarily of DoD employees and their dependents. BOOFOO status allows an NFE to conduct fund raising in their personal capacities for the benefit of command members, alumni, and, in the case of the NR 75th Gala, NR alumni and their families.
